Looks like another big battery recall on the horizon is coming up. There’s a report about a lady in India been burnt due to a Nokia BLD-3 battery blowing up. With so many incidents like this, I guess people will need to buy more insurance or simply buy less gadgets to save the environment and themselves. I’m sure gadget lovers won’t love this idea and I will be cautious even when I’m handling original equipment. Compensation won’t be enough if you lose an arm or leg due to contaminated batteries.
Located in eastern India, the woman noted that the BL-D3 series battery “blew up about 10 minutes after it was put on charge,” resulting in a “ball of fire” that led to minor burn injuries to the user. According to Nokia, the incident was “isolated,” and if it finds that the handset, battery, and charger are original, the 30-year old victim will supposedly be compensated.
