Fox is trying to win fans for its programs by offering old episodes and season premiers free on iTunes. Among the programs currently available are Prison Break, Bones and American Dad. Executives at Fox hope the move will attract new viewers who will then start watching the programs when the initially air, says the L.A. Times.

It’s an interesting move and one that underscores how new technology is changing the television industry. My suggestion, for what it’s worth, is that the networks focus such efforts on new programs they really believe in. Hook viewers early and enjoy a ten-year run. They make money. Viewers get good shows.
