Yes, it sounds like the ultimate cautionary tale for the modern age: death by Internet addiction.

But I’m always a little suspicious when I hear these reports out of China.

The Chinese government isn’t exactly known for its warm embrace of the Internet (at least when it comes to access for its citizens) and stories like this one sure make it easy for the state to insist that it’s curbing Internet access out of concern for the public health.
