OK, I had every intention of blogging live during my DirecTV HD hookup this afternoon, but I was too caught up in trying to help (get in the installers way). I was set for the 1-5pm install window and of course they called at 10:30am to say they were on the way.

It took until about 2:30pm, but it’s finally done.

I now am the proud owner of a Panasonic 42″ plasma (720p) and am feeding it through the new DirecTV HD DVR (HR20-100).

I have a new 5 LNB dish and I’m running four wires behind the set for the new DVR plus my old DirecTiVo. So now I can record 4 shows at a time.

I was a special case apparently, the installer didn’t have any wall plates with 4 coax outlets, so I just had him do the wiring and hook up the DVR. Now I have to make a trip to the store to buy the wall plate and make the wires look pretty behind the set.

Pictures to follow.
