I’ve never used Skype on Linux before even though I handle various Linux / Unix machines in my daily job. Never had the chance or intention. Nonetheless, the new Skype for Linux 1.4 is out and Linux lovers might love it. Coincidently, my wife was using Skype to chat with a friend in Tokyo and the connection was pretty spotty. I wonder if it was due to the fact that its a holiday here (Malaysia) and too many users are connected. So she switched to Yahoo Messenger and the voice chat was flawless!
Skype for Linux is not updated nearly as often as it is on the Mac or on Windows. Smaller userbase and slightly more complex multimedia arrangements on Linux make updating the client slightly more difficult. That being said, they’ve made a whole mess of improvements.
