nextscreen Opera 9.5 Beta surfs faster than Internet Explorer or Firefox

The Scandinavian software company Opera just released a beta version of its next-generation Web browser, Opera 9.5. Opera has a lot of advantages over its main competitors, Internet Explorer and Firefox. Speed tests show it’s much faster in loading just about any Web page. It’s extremely secure. And it has an enormous number of built-in features such as a bit torrent client.

My favorite Opera extra is the zoom feature, which lets me increase the size of entire Web pages rather than just the text. (Yes, IE7 has this feature, but I hate it.)

The only real drawback of Opera is that it doesn’t work well with some Web pages. Google’s online applications, for example, sometimes give it fits. That said, it’s worth a try to see if it works with the pages you use because it really is very fast.
