In an effort to boost sales this holiday season, Tivo has announced that it’s cutting monthly service fees for new customers. A year of month-to-month service fell from $17 a month to $13 a month; a year of prepaid service fell from $179 to $129; two years of service fell from $279 to $249.
Existing customers won’t get any discounts — unless they buy an extra Tivo and choose a feature that Tivo had discontinued: lifetime service. The price for that is $400. It was $300 until Tivo discontinued the offer last year.
