Politicians, regulators and consumer advocates have long criticized cable companies for price increases that far exceed inflation rates.
Now Time Warner Cable is responding to critics — and new competition from AT&T and Verizon — by offering customers a two-year price freeze.
Folks who agree to buy television and Internet service from Time Warner for that long can lock in today’s prices for whatever package of services they buy. Folks who also want telephone service can lock those rates in, too.
The program costs nothing to join and comes with a 60-day opt-out period, but there is a $150 early termination penalty for people who break the contract after that.
