Sony just released the second generation of its portable book reader to good reviews, but e-book enthusiasts have even higher hopes for a new product from Amazon.
Amazon is confirming that its device, dubbed the Kindle, will go on sale Monday. Leaks from the company suggest that it will cost about $400 and come equipped for wireless book and newspaper downloads.
The well-informed folks at TechCruch hear that Amazon will market Kindle toward folks who feel bad about the environmental impact of paper products, but I think the folks who make ebooks would do far better with another strategy…
