Amazon sent me a review model of its Kindle e-book reader yesterday. My plan is do to a full review of it and a competing device, Sony’s Reader, though I’m having trouble getting a Reader. I’ve only had a couple hours to play with the Kindle but I thought I’d offer some quick thoughts for folks who are considering a purchase over the weekend.
1. It looks as cheap and antiquated in real life as it does in pictures — like a prop from a sci-fi movie made in the 70s. I’m not shocked by much, but I actually find it shocking that a device this ugly can actually exist in the post-iPhone age.
