The folks at Google Maps have been slowly rolling out their street-view feature to cities across the country and it looks like Dallas will come next. The “streetview” button already appears above the local map, but the feature isn’t actually running.
Street view is easy to use. Drag the yellow man you see onscreen to whatever area you’re interested in and images pop up; you can rotate your point of view or “walk” along the street.
Street view is neat, though of limited practical use. The real reason I’m excited about the addition is that it may — just may — mean that Google is getting ready to update the wildly outdated satellite images it has of Dallas.
