Yahoo Maps has just began offering a service that Google Maps launched in June, one that lets you move the suggested route between any two destinations. Users click on the colored route line and pull it wherever they want. The system then tallies the distance and travel time for the original route and the one the user created.

I still prefer Google Maps, not only because of the new Street View feature, but also because the look and feel appeals to me more than Yahoo. (Both services have what appear to be the same wildly outdated satellite images of the town.) That said, Yahoo has been working hard to update its mapping program this year. The biggest improvement came in May, when Yahoo overhauled the entire site.
