So I was surfing through Engadget when I saw this notice of two 32-gigabyte thumb drives from Corsair.
My initial reaction was, of course, “Me want!”
But then I started wondering what, exactly, I’d do with a huge Flash drive like this.
Thirty-two gigs isn’t enough space to back up most modern hard disc drives, but it’s far more than you’ll ever need to store PowerPoint presentations or other office documents. And these devices don’t have a built-in music player, so you can’t use them like an iPod.
I guess you could rip and store DVDs to these things to easily transport digital movies between multiple computers. But ripping movies is a pain, and are regular DVD discs really that cumbersome?
Am I missing something? Or are these mammoth thumb drives basically pointless?
