At 72 GB, it’s probably not big enough for many computer makers to ditch traditional spinning drives. The price of flash memory will also slow adoption, but the technology is getting close.

Another year may be enough to increase capacity and cut price enough to put flash memory in a big number of higher end computers.

When it finally happens, the transition from discs to solid state memory will turbo charge computer operating speeds, while slashing power use and almost eliminating hard-drive failures.
