Tivo subscribers will soon be able to rent or buy a huge selection of foreign and independent films from an online service called Jaman. Tivos connected to the Web via broadband Internet will be able to call up Jaman’s catalog and stream films directly to their TVs.
The announcement doesn’t say exactly how many movies will be available or when the service will start. Prices for rentals will start at $1,99.
You won’t find any Hollywood blockbusters at Jaman, but you if you like art house movies and dream of attending international film festivals, you’ll like what you see. Besides, Tivo users can already get big-name films through Amazon Unbox.
