Internet radio services like Last.fm have long streamed free music based upon a user’s stated tastes, but their deals with record labels always forbid them from playing specific songs on demand — until now.
CBS, which bought Last.fm last year for $280 million, has struck a deal with all the major recording labels that now lets Last.fm users hear any of 3.5 million songs, for free, whenever they want.
There’s only one catch…
