
So Russian security researchers claim to have found a way to successfully hack Yahoo’s CAPTCHA security systems (the filtering software where you have to transcribe slightly garbled letters and numbers) about 35 percent of the time.
Well, a mere 35 percent success rate still means it’s pretty secure, right?
It’s not necessary to achieve high degree of accuracy when designing automated recognition software. The accuracy of 15% is enough when attacker is able to run 100.000 tries per day.
