There’s a nifty new program called Make3D that lets you upload a traditional two-dimensional photo. The site then transforms the 2D shot into a 3D interactive image that you can move around inside.

The image above is my house. Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move around, and the “+” and “-” keys to zoom.

The effect is cool, but zooming in too much creates some massive distortion, and of course, it’s not real 3D, since you can’t go around corners and such. Also, the creators warn that the software works much better on buildings and scenes than people.

And it took several days after I uploaded my photo for the conversion to be completed.

Still, pretty fun.
