When Apple Inc. announced iTunes movie rentals on Jan. 15, it promised to have more than 100 HD movies and more than 1,000 total movies by the end of February.

Did the company make good on its promise? It came close on HD but fell way short of the mark otherwise.

As of the morning of Feb. 29, Macworld’s Christopher Breen found 91 HD movies and 351 total titles available for rent through his Apple TV. Using iTunes on a computer, he was able to drag up 399 films.
