Google has been steadily upgrading its mapping program for years now, but the latest is a huge improvement. (It has to be to compete with recent improvements to Microsoft’s Live Maps and Virtual Earth.)
There are a number of new features but the one that sells me is the speed. Google Earth has always been a resource hog, particularly when you’re looking at the 3D building models in a big city. This new version gives you better-looking models and it gives them to you far faster. It makes the whole thing more usable.
