HD Guru is reporting that “well-placed industry sources” say Sony wants to regain the lead in HDTV sales so badly that it’s going to start a price war this month. Better still, competitors are expected to match the cuts to maintain sales:
Here is an example. Sony’s latest 40″ 1080p (1920×1080) HDTV the KDL-S4100 will have a (suggested minimum price) of just $1199 making a full $500 less than its lowest priced predecessor.
I have no idea about the reliability of HD Guru’s sources, but you may want to wait a couple weeks before making a purchase.
