Rich Abramowicz, one of the Web developers here for dallasnews.com, sends word that Firefox 3 is still going through some growing pains, despite all the beta and release candidate versions:
I installed two developer add-ons with firefox 2.0 - Web Developer and Firebug. After installing FF 3.0, it told me the old versions of Web Developer and Firebug were not compatible so it asked me if I wanted it to search for updated versions. I asked it to upgrade the versions but it couldn’t find any. I had to manually go to the add-ons page and reinstall Web Developer and Firebug. It may be the same for other add-ons, I don’t know.
So you might want to hang on to that copy of Firefox 2 a bit longer if some of your favorite apps don’t work yet in Firefox 3.
UPDATE: I changed the headline on this post in response to suggestions in the comments section.
