Verizon got a lot of press today for extending its fastest Fios Internet service — 50 megabits per second down, 20 Mbps up — to 10 new states including Texas.
The AP mentioned speed boosts to other Fios offerings but didn’t give any specifics, which is kind of crazy given that the overwhelming majority of Fios customers get the slower service packages.
Here, from Verizon are the old speeds, the new speeds and the prices. For some people who got a good deal when they signed up for Fios, the new prices may be a bit higher. For most people, however, the prices will stay the same.
Note: Existing customers must call and ask for the upgrades. Otherwise speeds and prices will remain the same.
