The fine folks from Dash stopped by our offices this afternoon to demo the new Dash Express GPS device, and they left us a sample unit to review.
In case you aren’t familiar with the Dash Express, the hook is that the device can connect to cellular radio networks to give you real time traffic info, in addition to standard GPS directions.
But the device can also connect to Wi-Fi networks to download updates, plug-ins and info on local points of interest.
And the price of the Dash Express just dropped from $400 to $300.
Of course, with the imminent launch of the 3G iPhone with built in GPS, a lot of people are wondering whether Apple will put traditional nav unit makers out of business, since the 3G iPhone w/GPS will also be able to connect to cell and Wi-Fi networks.
So we’ll be putting the Dash Express through its paces and comparing it to the 3G iPhone, when that thing finally hits on July 11.
But let us know if you have any questions about the Dash Express, and we’ll do our best to get you answers.
