Microsoft Office 2007 came out about 18 months ago and introduced an entirely new document format that older versions of the software could not use.

Microsoft promised at the time to release conversion software for both PCs and Macs. The PC converter came out a few months later, but the company kept delaying the Mac equivalent.

Today, Microsoft has finally made good on its promise. The conversion software is available for download, along with some other updates to both Office 2004 for Mac and Office 2008 for Mac.

Who should get this? Pretty much everyone who has Office 2004 for Mac. You’ll need to to open most documents created by the increasingly common Office ‘07 (for PC) and Office ‘08 (for Mac) suites.
