If you take a ton of pics, tagging them is just about the only way to keep track of what you’ve and locate it swiftly. Trouble is, tagging is a pain, particularly when you come back from a vacation with 500 pics.
A new service called Tagcow says it can save you the trouble. It’s free to sign up, and users get the first 100 photos free — so they can see how the service works and decide if they want to continue.
After that, Tagcow charges $10 per 250 pics.
I haven’t seen any reviews, but the demonstration videos show a very ambitious service, one that tags not only generic traits — like “house” or “snowy day” — but also specific people. You can upload a sample photo of anyone, tell the system who it is, and Tagcow should be able to recognize that person from then on.
Once you get a GPS enabled camera — or one that can read the GPS from your phone — you’ll be able to generate a massive amount of data about any pic automatically.
