Not to echo the advice that Victor just gave you on HDTVs, but if you’re thinking about buying a new laptop, you probably want to hold off a few weeks.
Intel officially launched its latest generation of laptop chips Monday, the Centrino 2 line, and it looks like they pack some pretty impressive improvements over their predecessors.
Intel’s new chips come about a month after a new line — this one dubbed Puma — from AMD.
Both sets of chips boost calculations per second, of course. They should also improve graphics processing, extend laptop battery life, and get better and faster wireless reception.
AMD has been shipping Puma chips since early June. Intel got a later start, but several major computer makers — including Lenovo and H-P — announced new Centrino 2 laptops right after Intel announced the chips.
Apple watchers predict that company will upgrade its MacBook Pro and perhaps its regular MacBook lineups by the end of summer.
