The Wii is turning into a magnet for patent litigation.

Maryland-based Hillcrest Labs says it has filed a patent complaint and a lawsuit against Nintendo, saying the Wii remote infringes upon its patents.

The filings also target a “a navigation interface display system that graphically organizes content for display on a television.”

Hillcrest Labs makes motion-sensitive devices for a range of home entertainment applications.

The company says it is filing the complaint and the suit with “a great deal of respect for Nintendo and the Wii.”

The Associated Press reports that Nintendo has not yet received the lawsuit and has no comment.

The new trouble for the Wii follows the winning patent infringement lawsuit by Tyler-based Anascape Ltd. In that case a jury awarded Anascape more than $21 million after the company said Nintendo violated its patents in the Wii Classic controller and two Gamecube controllers. A judge later ordered Nintendo to stop selling the controllers.

Nintendo is appealing to the case to the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
