Grassroots campaigns work.

While their leaders were negotiating a bail out package with the White House on Saturday, the rest of the U.S. Home of Representatives passed a bill that would extend the negotiation period between webcasters and the music industry.

The National Association of Broadcasters, which traditional radio stations, had been lobbying against the bill when Pandora CEO Tim Westergren urged users to call, e-mail or otherwise contact their congressmen to voice their support for the bill, which could be the last hope for Pandora’s survival.

A lot of Pandora users apparently heeded the call. The bill passed unanimously.

The senate might vote as early as this day.
