State you live with a bunch of people and your roommates “forget” what food belongs to whom. The concept “Flatshare” fridge from Electrolux could make it a bit easier to remember.
The model was designed by Austrian student Stefan Buchberger as part of an “appliance of the future” design contest that Electrolux sponsors each year.
Each of the four sleek stackable mini-refrigerators that make up the Flatshare can be personalized with different, colorful skins and accessories (like a bottle opener) and, if someone moves out, any one Flatshare unit can be picked up like a suitcase and plugged in at the new residence.
“I got the idea to create the Flatshare fridge because in many shared flats there’s a problem with the refrigerator,” states Buchberger. “It gets filthy because no one person feels responsible for cleaning it.”
Buchberger will receive approximately $7,000 and a six-month internship at one of the Electrolux global design centers.
