Alienware Media Center PC

Alienware is going big on the Windows Media Center Experience with their new high-end Media Center PC.

Alienware’s new HD Media Server will have up to four (4) terabytes of hot-swappable hard drive storage, recording and playing back of high definition content at up to 1080p via an HDMI output, supports internal cable card (OCUR), blu-ray playback option and features a Dolby Digital 7.1 preamp output.

“We really want the customer to stay in the Media Center environment,” says [Alienware’s Marc] Diana. For that reason, he says, Alienware’s PCs will have extra features not found in run-of-the-mill Media Center PCs.

For example, Blu-ray discs can be accessed and controlled from within Media Center. Typically, users have to exit Media Center to launch Blu-ray from the PC desktop. Similarly, Alienware “most likely will integrate iPod collections” into the Media Center’s music library, says Diana. “Other Media Centers won’t import iTunes songs. We will have an add-on to view iTunes in Media Center. We really want the customer to be in Media Center 99 percent of the time.”

Looks like another big battery recall on the horizon is coming up. There’s a report about a lady in India been burnt due to a Nokia BLD-3 battery blowing up. With so many incidents like this, I guess people will need to buy more insurance or simply buy less gadgets to save the environment and themselves. I’m sure gadget lovers won’t love this idea and I will be cautious even when I’m handling original equipment. Compensation won’t be enough if you lose an arm or leg due to contaminated batteries.

Located in eastern India, the woman noted that the BL-D3 series battery “blew up about 10 minutes after it was put on charge,” resulting in a “ball of fire” that led to minor burn injuries to the user. According to Nokia, the incident was “isolated,” and if it finds that the handset, battery, and charger are original, the 30-year old victim will supposedly be compensated.

Casio Exilim EX-S880

Top : Casio Exilim EX-S880

The cool Casio Exilim EX-S880 and EX-Z77 (7.2 megapixel) has Youtube upload features and it will compress your videos before your upload. I think this is a cool feature as Youtube is a big thing nowadays. I will just talk about Casio Exilim EX-S880 below.

The Casio Exilim EX-S880 is 94 millimeters by 60 mm by 17 mm, and weighs about the same, at 128 grams. Behind the 3X optical zoom lens is an 8.1 megapixel image sensor that delivers pictures at up to 3,264 pixels by 2,448 pixels resolution. There are seven still image modes, including 16:9 and 3:2 aspect ratio settings, and six video modes, which range from a 320 pixel by 240 pixel low-quality mode to an 848 pixel by 480 pixel wide-screen, high quality mode at 30 frames per second. Video is recorded in MPEG4 H.264 as a Quicktime .mov file.

Casio Exilim EX-S880 also features a eBay best shot feature. Best Shot takes photos at a size that is image optimized for display on eBay, allowing picture takers to more quickly and easily create photos for selling items on eBay. For ease of use, eBay photos are stored in a special eBay directory.

More info on the cool Youtube function below

So how do you get a clip onto YouTube? First, you switch to YouTube-optimized mode in the shooting mode selection screen, which sets the capture to 640 pixels by 480 pixels at 30 frames per second. Then you shoot as many videos as you like.

You then slip the camera into a dock, which comes with the device and plugs into your PC (Windows XP SP2, 2000 SP4 and Vista only). This automatically starts a video management application on the computer and grabs the movie files. The application can be set up with a YouTube account, default title name and other settings, so getting the video online involves simply clicking the upload button. Alternatively, you can enter information specific to the clips and then upload them.
